another really important thing is how other shows romanticise abusive relationships where as in Orphan Black Sarah and Vic don’t even have a ship name and literally nobody takes any of Vic’s shit

You care.

I care so much about this relationship. It’s probably in my top three relationships on this show, because it’s such a confusing relationship. It’s three relationships, actually: Sarah & Beth, and Sarah & Art, and Beth & Art. It makes me want to know so much more about Art’s partnership with Beth (he covered up a shooting for her, knowing she had a substance-abuse problem that could probably get both their asses nailed to the wall) and the way his relationship with Beth influences what he thinks of Sarah. Sarah clearly trusts Art, probably despite all of her natural instincts; he’s the person she tries to turn to when the going gets tough, even though she never fully can. And it fascinates me, what he likely thinks of her. She’s Beth, but she’s not. There’s got to be some intense carry-over emotions there.

I never really got a sense of what Beth’s relationship with Paul was like through his scenes with Sarah, which I think is the point: Beth’s relationship with Paul was nothing, it was a lie, but she had something with Art. They were partners, they were friends, they took care of each other in the extreme. “Why are you such a hardass?” “Because it’s your favorite thing about me.” “You haven’t called me a dipshit all day.” “I don’t need babysitting, dipshit.” “So I came back.” “For Paul." Take your rookie by the hand and get her through it, indeed.

I want so much for next season to spend time exploring Beth’s character and her relationship with Paul. I want so much for Sarah to continue to rely on Art, even while they occasionally work at cross purposes. I just … love this relationship.
